The SIP 3.2.2 release for the SoundPoint IP, SoundStation IP and Polycom VVX 1500 products is now available from the Polycom public support sites.
This release includes significant new functionality for the VVX 1500 product and is a patch release to address a few field issues for the SoundPoint IP and SoundStation IP products.
Notable enhancements are:
1. VVX 1500: Support for Video calls utilizing H.323 signaling.
2. VVX 1500: Support for a full browser based on the popular Webkit browser.
3. VVX1500: Support for ‘video fast update’. This will allow VVX 1500 inter- operability with several call server partners, including the popular Asterisk implementation.
4. Support for DTMF via SIP INFO signaling on all products.
More details are available in the release notes.
Also released at this time are BootROM 4.1.4 and BootROM 4.2.1. These are primarily associated with the VVX 1500 enhancements, but also serve as patch release for the other products. See Release Notes for more details.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
The change in Operating system on the VVX 1500 has several implications.
1. VVX 1500 customers upgrading to SIP 3.2.2 need to follow a procedure that is more complicated than usual. This procedure is documented in technical Bulletin 53522
2. For this and future VVX 1500 releases there is a very tight inter-dependency between the BootROM and SIP code and hence they are(and will be) released as a single package.
And finally, for those of you wondering why the software is called SIP 3.2.2 yet also supports H.323 signaling …. We are planning a name change in the first half of 2010, in which we plan to call the software “Polycom UC Software Release X.Y.Z.” Stay tuned …
